Life on the island is characterized by tranquility. The island, like almost all the Cyclades, is divided into two villages, Alopronia, the port and the Kastro, or Chora, among the most beautiful villages of the Cyclades.
Scattered around the island are numerous archaeological sites and points of interest, and many small secluded beaches among the terraced hills.
The best are those of Agios Georgios, malta and Dialiskari.
By ferry it is possible to reach Ios or Folegandros in a few minutes for a day trip.
